What are Chemical Peels?

A woman with her hair pulled back, looking over her shoulder with a peaceful expression. The natural lighting highlights her flawless skin - Chemical Peels at Truffles Aesthetics

A chemical peel is a topical solution used to smooth the texture of the skin by removing the dull, damaged outer layers. Choosing a peel is one of the least invasive ways to improve the overall appearance of your skin.

Types of Chemical Peels

At Truffles Aesthetics, our chemical peels address your skin type and conditions. We use some or a combination of at Truffles Aesthetics the following chemical peels to create a chemical peel treatment that is tailored to your skin:

Lactic Acid (LA)

This mild peel is the most gentle peel and is ideal for sensitive skin. It can be used in a series with virtually no downtime to achieve the best results.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA)

This mild acid peel is best for dry skin or discoloration conditions. It is excellent for exfoliating and revealing the bright, smooth skin.

This peel is a moderate acid that removes the surface layer of dead skin to address fine lines and wrinkles and improve overall skin texture.

What to Expect on the Day of Chemical Peel Surgery

When you arrive for your appointment, our aesthetician will meet with you again to review your treatment plan, chemical peel solution, and any remaining questions or concerns. When you are ready, your skin will be cleansed and prepped. Your aesthetician will then apply the chemical solution to your skin. Depending on the strength of the solution, you may feel mild stinging. After the chemical solution has worked its magic on your skin, it will be neutralized with another chemical solution and then cleansed off your skin.

A chemical peel treatment is an outpatient treatment, meaning our patients can enjoy receiving their procedure with the comfort of returning home the same day.

Chemical Peels Recovery

The recovery time varies depending on the strength of the chemical peel. Most patients will feel some type of itching or stinging sensation after their treatment, but this can usually be mitigated with your post care product. AHA and TCA peels generally require little to minimal recovery, and most of our patients are able to return to their regularly scheduled lives with little issue.

Truffles Aesthetics strongly recommends all patients undergoing chemical peels avoid sun exposure immediately after and for several weeks following their treatment.

How Much Does a Chemical Peel Cost in Atlanta, GA?
